Five Cellular Automata 6.47

http://www.hermetic.ch/solo/pca.htm

A cellular automaton consists of:

(a) A structure of cells, such as the squares on a chess board.
(b) A set of values or "states" such that each cell is associated with a particular state.
(c) A set of rules describing how one state of the system (a particular configuration of cells in specific states) is to be transformed or converted to another state of the system.

This is software for exploring five cellular automata, as follows:

1. An extended version of Conway's Life, called q-state Life.

2. A simulation of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky chemical reaction in which, beginning from a random state of the system, spirals and curlicues "spontaneously" emerge.

3. A process called Togetherness in which cells with random states move so as to maximize the number of neighbors of each cell in the same state as that cell (or, thought of in another way, in which the cells rearrange themselves so as to form maximal clusters of cells all having the same state).

4. Viral Replication, a simulation of a population of dividing cells subject to viral infection.

5. Diffusion-Limited Aggregation, illustrating a process in which particles diffuse (moving randomly) and aggregate to form a fractal structure.

The documentation provides a complete description of the algorithms used.

SwingNN 1.0

Your data is imported into a grid and used to train a neural network. The input values are forced to swing beyond their limits. The output values are forecasted by the neural network. A new neural network is created using the new inputs and forecasted outputs. The neural networks are compared. The inputs are adjusted and another new neural network is created. The process continues until a new neural network agrees with the original about

Alcyone Ephemeris 3.2

Alcyone Ephemeris is an accurate and fast astronomical ephemeris calculator covering the period 3000 BC to AD 3000. It calculates heliocentric, geocentric, and topocentric positions of the Sun (Earth), Moon, planets, small bodies (asteroids, comets), and fixed stars in ecliptical, equatorial, and horizontal coordinates (including angular differences between two bodies), with optional corrections for parallax and refraction.

Johns Hope's FPlot 2.11

FPlot is a freeware program to plot and fit functions. Functions are entered as C# code. This way you can express any function and the functions evaluate at an optimal speed. You can also integrate and differentiate numerically in your functions. You can even use other numerical .NET libraries.

RadioWORKS 2.0.5.0

RadioWORKS: A tool for calculating radio wave properties. Get frequency info, such as free-space wavelength, proper antenna lengths, band info, propagation methods, transmitter configurations, etc. Calculate path loss using Free-Space, Flat-Earth, Hata Urban, Hata Suburban, or Hata Open Area models. Predict how a proposed transmitter power change or range requirement change will affect existing system range or power output needs, respectively.

OnScreen DNA Lite 1.0.2

OnScreen DNA Lite gives everyone a "painless" way to grasp the details of the double helix structure of DNA. This is accomplished by on-screen tutorials that guide you through an exploration of a virtual 3D model. In addition, there is a simulation of DNA denaturation, a laboratory phenomenon important in biotechnology, in which the DNA strands are seen to split apart. These two activities are taken from more advanced editions of the software.
